The stitching play : moments of everyday elements in a microcosm of nature and how one perceives them from confined familiar spaces

There is so much to smile about, simply for what takes place in each moment: the moments of everyday elements in a microcosm of nature and how one perceives them from confined familiar spaces. The beauty of nature that is the delicacy of patterns on a leaf or flower, its color, texture and form are often overlooked in the rush to get on with our lives. Urban living space is confined, but does where we live matter to see the beauty of nature? We see nature when we fly in a plane. We see nature surrounding us in many cities of the world, and in the streets we see nature in the cracks on the floors, on the walls and everywhere. The moments are to be participated in and to be captured. It is the strength, the beauty and the peace that nature illustrates that we must keep in our memory, if we are to be fully present in each living moment. The core of my art practice is an exploration of nature that is inspired by light and shadows in view of the domesticity of the everyday in a confined space. I seek to capture moments that encourage the viewer to re-discover the beautiful elements of nature in the everyday, and to consider the importance of the intimate moments that create a harmony between human activities and the surrounding nature. I use stitching as a domestic material, together with photographic prints on fabric, painting, drawing and cyanotype processes. In an art practice where dreams are lavish and perseverance to venture into the unknown is needed, rediscovering the beauty in everyday surroundings is of exceptional importance for an artist.
