Spiritual icons and landscapes have always intrigued me, how a space or object may be sacred to one while meaningless to another. Throughout our history, the need and yearn for a sense of security from sacred objects, icons, texts and ideological landscapes have not diminished even in the current post-industrial, globalized and highly wired environment. Looking back from our contemporary consumerist culture, where the notion of iconic objects have veered from the original religious artefacts to the desirable objects (technology or even architecture) of the everyday, the question of “what is sacredness and how sacralization occurs” turns into the main objectives of this project.
