In front of a blank canvas : to review the action of painting with existentialism

The program for the coarse is aimed to explore the art form of painting. My concern stems from my skepticism about the relationship between myself, as painter to painting, and is about questioning the history of painting in relation to my own positioning based on Taoist philosophy and existentialism. As soon as the first stroke, which as a result of the intention of act of painting, being put on a canvas, an action of painting is established. This action changed the canvas, evoking it out of the realm of its original being- a sheer object. In virtue of it, it is endowed some properties as a painting, such as the static-ness, the 2-Dimension, the support of some images, etc. I try to deal with the relationships between those properties and their opposite sides to call the action of painting into question. At the same time, I shifted the exploration from self-expression to the concern of the support- canvas, so as to question paintings through the root, with the hope of revealing some new possibilities in the realm of art making.
