FACTORY is a project that discusses the fictional storyworld, transmedia storytelling, immersive experience, and narratives in moving images. Initially inspired by Chinese Buddhist art and traditional European art, FACTORY explores the mythology and symbolism across different cultures. Through a comparative analysis, this project seeks to uncover similarities, intersections, and connections between these cultural motifs. By reorganising, intertwining, and combining the elements that appeared the most in the different cultures and arts, such as ‘hands’ and ‘eyes’, a new narrative emerges around the fictional historical institute named FACTORY, that focused on the research of HANDS, EYES, PLANTS and OBJECTS. This exegesis investigates the application of transmedia storytelling and worldbuilding within the framework of FACTORY. By examining the artistic references, reflections on the studio practice and the exhibition, this paper discussed the development of FACTORY from both conceptual and technical aspects.
